Check-in at Reef Fleet Terminal. Check-in commences at 7.15am and ends at 7.45am. The boat, Evolution, will depart at 8am sharp.

After boarding your deluxe boat, your Great Barrier Reef day trip starts with the boat ride from Cairns out to the reef—one of the fastest rides from Cairns.

Depending on the weather and water conditions on the day of your tour, the captain will head to one of 12 exclusive moorings, providing you with the best possible on-the-water experience that day.

Upon arrival at your first reef location, either Saxon or Norman Reef, it’s time to snorkel and dive! Hop in the water with your provided equipment and discover the underwater world full of multicoloured fish, coral, and other marine life. Your guides help you to get fitted with snorkel and scuba diving equipment, and provide instruction and encouragement to beginners and the experienced. Your friendly and knowledgeable crew is always available to help you enjoy your time in the water.

Stop At: Great Barrier Reef, Great Barrier Reef, Queensland

After a morning of water activities, it is time to enjoy a delicious lunch prepared by the crew. Enjoy a BBQ lunch prepared on board with fresh fish, steak, a variety of salads, and prawns. Special dietary requirements can be catered for too including gluten-free, dairy-free, vegan and vegetarian. Please notify the operator at least 24 hours prior to travel.

Stop At: Great Barrier Reef, Cairns, Queensland Australia

At the second reef location, North Hastings Reef, you can snorkel or dive again. If you prefer to stay dry, you can still check out this World Heritage-listed underwater world on a semi-submersible tour with live commentary by our marine biologist (own expense; payable on the day of your tour. Semi-Submersible is operational again from the 19 December) or from above with a 10-minute scenic helicopter ride (additional cost).

On the return trip to Cairns, snack on complimentary afternoon tea and enjoy a complimentary glass of wine to celebrate the end of your day on the sea. Fully licensed bar to purchase additional snacks and drinks!

  • Confirmation will be received at time of booking, unless booked within 4 hours of travel. In this case confirmation will be received as soon as possible, subject to availability
  • Check-in is from 7.15am at Reef Fleet Terminal, 1 Spence Street, Cairns. Please make your way to the Down Under Cruise and Dive counter to check-in. Boat departs 8.00am sharp.
  • All divers are required to complete a Medical Questionnaire. In our commitment to the safety of our guests, divers over 65 years (or 45 years for PADI dive courses) must have a medical clearance with a physician the confirms they are Fit To Dive. This can be provided by your own GP before you leave for your holiday. Please be aware that certain medical conditions (e.g. asthma, heart disease, diabetes) and/or prescription medication may prevent some people from diving.
  • Children aged and under 12 years (introductory) and 10 years (certified divers) are not permitted to participate in onboard diving activities as per Queensland Australian Law.
  • Children under the age of 18 must be in the immediate company of a parent or legal guardian.
  • For Certified Diving, evidence of dive certification is required from all divers wishing to participate in a certified dive.
  • Diving within 24 hours before your flight is not permitted.
  • Due to comfort, weight and balance of the aircraft, the weight limit for helicopters is 130kg. Please contact the supplier directly for further information.

    Amazing experience. Staff absolutely AAAA++++. So caring, professional and relaxed making the trip soooo relaxing. I'm not a confident swimmer but the crew made me feel at ease and I was able to conquer my ocean and snorkeling fears! Highly Recommend doing helicopter flight as well. Just beautiful. Thankyou for making our 1st trip to The Great Barrier Reef one to remember and we will be back.

    Me and my friends have never swim before. The extra care that the crew took on us impressed me a lot. They were really friendly. Especially Julia(professional diver) taught us really well. All thanks to her.

    Went on a day tour with my best friend as locals. We did the intro dive and snorkel and loved it that much we paid extra for another dive. The staff were all very friendly, Aaron, phil and jack stood out in making our day 😋 Thankyou for such a wonderful experience! Would do again 😍😍

    The crew were absolutely amazing. So friendly and made us feel at home and comfortable. Service and lynch was fantastic. I would highly recommend this family business to anyone. The 1st reef, Saxons Reef was beautiful.

    This is the team you should select to snorkel the Great Barrier Reef with! You enjoy every cent you spend for the ticketed price. Indie, Jasmine and Amber were amazing at settling my petrified nerves before the first snorkel session! I hadn't snorkelled in a while and they were soo kind and patient with me. Not too mention dealing with motion sickness. Once I was in the water, the clear blue waters and vivid coloured fish and coral consumed all my attention. It was also painful to see the bleached coral in some areas with over growth of algae. That did not overshadow the absolute wonderland beneath the surface of the waters. The real star of my visit was Shaylene, my snorkel master for the second session. Yes, you get 5 hours to snorkel! She was amazing and took her time showing me soo many very interesting accomplishments that the reef restoration efforts have a achieved to date. I was giddy with excitement when I got to see first hand the coral nurseries, the planted corals and thriving humungous plate corals ( the largest of which could have been 5m wide!). I completely forgot of my fears of deep open water where sharks reside, all thanks to Shaylene. It is also important to acknowledge the scientific work that the onboard Marine Biologists Alistair Cheguidden and Phil Jr undertake during their daily activities; be it briefing us about the reef, taking us out on snorkel tours or carrying out data collection on the reef. I believe this collaboration between science and tourism should be developed further and established as a mandatory requirement for ALL tour operators on the Great Barrier Reef. So, that we may preserve this natural wonder for generations to come. I look forward to my next visit. Keep up the great work!

    It was smooth sailing for the entire trip. The cruise ship was very nice and clean. The crew members were always jolly and enjoyable to be around. The customer service was amazing, they constantly keep check of everything to make sure we were safe and well, and able to enjoy our time. Big thanks to Eddie. I was worried about having to bring enough food because I read some cruise giving only light refreshment or not enough food, but they prepared a big nice and hot buffet after swimming, with great vegan options. This was my first time scuba diving and I did 2 dives. Instructions were given clearly and demonstrated well which made it very easy to follow. Diving gears were in good condition and well looked after by friendly big guy Aaron. However, my partner had some trouble getting into the ocean, she was very afraid of water. I really appreciate the crew being caring and encouraging about it but I wish they were just a tiny bit more gentle. Credits to dive instructor Dom for being calm and soothing enough to get her to dive in and able to enjoy the great reef. And also yes the dive sites were beautiful with lots of marine life. We didn't find any turtles but the fishes were all very colourful and pretty, along with the corals. I spotted a lot of sea slugs and I think they should get more appreciation, they looked very funny.
